SWCC Ministries
At Southwest we strive to connect with people in our community. Come Alive with us in the following ways:
Adult Teaching Ministry
At the heart of our teaching ministry is the drive to rekindle a strong desire to know, learn and teach God’s word and apply it to our daily lives.

Alpha Course
Alpha is an excellent course for community people, spiritual seekers as well as Christians to explore the meaning and purpose in life based on a biblical perspective. SWCC has ran Alpha for the last 8 years and has seen many people start a relationship with Jesus Christ through this amazing course. Over a 10-week period, Alpha seeks to explore many important questions such as:
- Who is Jesus?
- Why did Jesus have to die?
- Why should we read the Bible?
- How does God guide my life?
Would you like to run an Alpha Course? If yes, please contact our church office.

Connexions Morning Coffee House
Connexions is an opportunity for moms across Kamloops to meet and connect with other moms. If you are new to town and want to connect with other moms, or you just need some adult interaction, Connexions provides a place to have a much needed ‘time-out’. We meet Friday mornings at Southwest from 9:30am-11:30am. Child care is provided for crawlers-5 years of age. Cost is $5.00 plus $1.00 for each additional child - first session is free!
Empty Nesters
Empty Nesters is a group of people who enjoy each others’ company and are involved in social and service activities together. These activities take place approximately once each month. Come and join us – everyone is welcome.

Fellowship (Social Events)
Fellowship should be a part of any healthy family and it’s a big part of life at Southwest. To help nurture a deeper sense of community, we organize events like our monthly “Soup Sunday” lunch, and our annually “Party at the Park” BBQ, that help foster meaningful and authentic relationships not only with the members of Southwest but also with those who live in our surrounding community.

1830's
1830's is our college and career ministry (anyone 18+) here at Southwest and our goal is to “ignite the passion of a generation”. We offer a fun and interactive events, life-applicable bible study and we also take time to give back to our community through various service projects. If you are interested in having fun and hanging out with people who are interested in making a difference in this world, then 1830's is the place for you.

Small Groups
Small groups are the primary means used at Southwest to create a sense of family and develop spiritual maturity. The followers of Jesus historically met in homes as well as in larger groups, and it is this biblical model that we want to emulate at Southwest. Small Groups provide the context for deep and authentic relationships to be formed. Small Groups happen, of course in homes throughout Kamloops. Each group has it’s own personality while following a similar schedule of study, group life, prayer and service to others.
Every Small Group is open to new people and will divide if the group becomes too large. Our vision is to see every Southwest adult plugged into a healthy Home Group. Click here to learn more about our Small Groups.
Marriage Course
The Marriage Course is offered annually at Southwest and is based on the Alpha Course (www.themarriagecourse.org). The course is a series of seven sessions designed to help any married, or cohabiting couple, strengthen their relationship. It’s a great opportunity to spend time together as a couple looking at the important issues in your marriage. The course is very practical and will help equip you with the tools needed to build a healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime. The course is led by 2 couples of our church who have many years of marriage experience between them. There is plenty of time to discuss the topics as a couple and there is no group work involved at any stage of the course. Topics include: Building Strong Foundations, The Art of Communication, Resolving Conflict, The Power of Forgiveness, Parents and In-laws, Good Sex, and Love In Action.

God's Big Backyard - Sunday School
The purpose of our Sunday School ministry is to honour our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ by helping the children of this church and the surrounding community to follow Jesus. We believe that God has called us to impact this young and developing generation by being child-focused, life-related, relational, creative and fun. Our Sunday morning programs are offered to all children from birth to Grade 8. To enrol your child in our Sunday School programme, click here to download our registration form.
Kit out our classrooms! Do you have any child sized desks and chairs and bookshelves you don't want? Bring them along to the church during office hours and we will gladly put them to good use.

MaSH! : High School Ministry
“MaSH!” is our ministry geared for those in Grades 8-12. Through the school year we meet every Tuesday at the church from 7:00-9:15 pm. We endeavor to ensure that MaSH! is never boring and offers meaningful times of worship, relevant bible teaching, tons of fun, well planned events. MaSH! gives youth an opportunity to meet other youth to build and strengthen friendships, to develop community and to study the life and teachings of Jesus together. Our youth leaders are committed to and care for our youth and are there to mentor and support youth in their daily lives.

Creative Arts
We are truly blessed at this church to have so many talented singers and musicians and we are always on the look out for more. This year our goal is to truly pursue excellence in our Worship and Creative Arts here at Southwest. That doesn't necessarily mean perfection, but it means that we want to individually and collectively take the talents that God has blessed us with and whole-heartedly give them back to Him.
